Sudanese blogger and activist Usamah Mohamad (@simsimt on Twitter) has been detained by Sudan's National Security Service (NSS) agents for the past three weeks after attending an anti-government protest in Khartoum.

On Wednesday, human rights group Amnesty International released an appeal for his release saying that Mohamad was at risk of "torture and other ill-treatment" while in prison.
